In terms of the outdoor season, we finished in first place so we will be playing the Orange team on Sunday the 29th before the party at the bar. Remember that the game has been moved to 3:00 due to the time change and the lack of sun in the evening. This should give people plenty of time to eat, drink and be gone to see the Tigers game if they are so inclined.

Indoor Info

We need people for the teams so even if you aren't playing, please spread the word. I registered for the Monday night and Friday night leagues last night. I had enough money for the deposit, but we still owe a big chunk of cash. I know a few of you haven't paid yet, so please get it to me as soon as you can. Don't bring it to High Velocity; they will take individual payments as individual registration and it won't be credited towards the team. The scedule will be posted next weekend on High Velocity's Site.

We've never done two teams before, so we'll just have to see how it goes. The Monday night team is called "The "Dirty Bastards M" and the Friday Night Team is called "The Pink Tacos." However, they said they might censor "The Pink Tacos." If that happens, I'll let you know what it becomes. I was going to call the Friday Team "The Dirty Bastards F," but Jean asked if he could name it, and of course, he went low-brow.

Again, get the word out!!! We need people!

And there's this for your viewing pleasure.

We tied the first game 2-2 and thewn lost yesterday 1-0. We've played well in both games though so I think we'll be able to pull it together and still do well this fall. Here is the rest of the schedule:

The Fall Season is Approaching

The first game is on Sunday, September 10. We need to be there by 4:00 so we can register and have all the paperwork filled out by gametime. It will be $25.00 a person, and if you plan to write a check, please write it to the Canton Soccer Club. We've lost a few people this season so feel free to bring people, but then again, we had a huge team in the spring, so maybe it will be okay.

In the mean time, keep on cheering for Arsenal as they play Middlesbrough on the 9th and really need a win!!! And check out this short montage of goofy soccer bloopers set to Monty Python music:

The Final Game

Our final game is Sunday evening. We are playing the Red team as they tied Yellow and ended up one point ahead. That said, there are at least four people who won't be able to make the game so be prepared to play a lot.

The gathering at Conor O'Neill's last Friday was great. We had a good turn out and everyone seemed to have fun. I think we should get together to watch another game soon. It was suggested that we have a team golf outing this summer between the seasons. Keep it in mind and let me know what you think.

The World Cup

Here is the TV schedule for the World Cup. A couple people have already volunteered to host some viewing parties, but if anyone else is interested, it'd be cool to watch more games together. It would also be fun to get together at a bar and watch a few games. I know Conor O'Neill's in Ann Arbor will be showing the games, but if you know of other places, we can mix it up a bit.

In other news, there is a pick-up game in Ypsilanti on Sunday morning at 11:00 if anyone is interested in playing at the field on the corner of Congress and Mansfield. Right now there are only about 10 people, so come on and join the game.

The Spring Outdoor Season

The first game of the season will be next Sunday, the 23rd. Please be there at 4:30 with your money so we can fill out the registration forms ahead of time. Supposedly, we are getting a new color this year too, so it looks like the old white and blues shirts many of us have been using will become obselete soon. We're still using them for indoor though.

Info about the upcoming seasons

The third session of indoor will start on March 6. Our games will be on Monday nights throughout March and April at High Velocity Sports in Canton, MI, and the schedule can be viewed here. In May, we will be playing outdoors in the Canton over 30 men's league. While it is considered a men's league, there are a couple women on most of the teams too, and the outdoor league is considering going co-ed. If you know of anyone looking for a team in the Canton, MI area, feel free to pass on my e-mail address and have him or her get in touch with me. We are always looking for new players, and we are always happy to meet new people.
